On March 2011 the Trinidad Scorpion 'Butch T' pepper was ranked the hottest pepper in the world by Guinness World Records when a Trinidad Scorpion 'Butch T' pod was measured at 1,463,700 Scoville heat units, officially ranking it as the hottest pepper. Three years later the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion beat this record.
